Northern Illinois Conference
of The United Methodist Church
By Faith
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. Hebrews 11:1-3
Welcome
On behalf of the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Men I want to welcome you to the Men’s new webpage. It is our hope that you will find this helpful and informative to the needs of your Men’s Unit.
We will be linked to the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Men
, our districts as they come on line and the General Commission on United Methodist Men. Our District Presidents and their executive committees want to disciple men of our church and the un-churched.
Steve Nailor, Conference President.

United Methodist Men The purpose of UM Men is to help men to grow in Christ, so others can know Christ.
United Methodist Men is a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spirituality, and to seek daily His will.
Helping men to grow in Christ so others can know Christ.
Purpose: United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spirituality and to seek daily his will.
Ministry to Men: The General Commission on Men exists to declare the centrality of Christ in every man's life. Men's ministry leads to the spiritual growth of men and effective discipleship. This purpose is served as men are called to model the servant leadership of Jesus Christ.
Scouting: The General Commission provides resources and support for civic youth-serving agencies and scouting ministries.
Strength for Service: This powerful daily devotional has provided words of comfort and of encouragement for the men and women of the armed forces, civil service and public servants since 1942. Learn more about how this book has touched lives and how you can participate in the effort to underwrite the publication and distribution of one million copies of this book.

Missions
The following Missions are endorsed by the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Men. We invite all the men of the Conference to join us in support of these missions. Check back in the coming weeks and months for updates, including Missions supported by specific districts.
Society of St. Andrew
The Society of St. Andrew is a grassroots, faith-based, hunger relief nonprofit working with all denominations to bridge the hunger gap between 96 billion pounds of food wasted every year in this country and the nearly 40 million Americans who live in poverty. We rely on support from donors, volunteers and farmers as we glean nutritious excess produce from farmers' fields and orchards after harvest and deliver it to people in need across the United States.

Haiti Tool Project
This project is sponsored by the North Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Men (NCJUMM).
This project is time sensitive. Our best result can be achieved while this tragedy is still on the hearts of our people. The tools will not ship until the appropriate time. They need food, water and medical supplies first. However, as we all struggle trying to find ways to help, now is the time to collect them.

 | New Project Video Launched We are pleased to share that our website now includes a short, compelling video about Strength for Service and its impact. This video was developed because we have received many requests from churches that wanted to show a video about the project during their services to help them raise funds in support of it.
The video includes Evan Hunsberger, the Eagle Scout who successfully got the book republished in 2002 and many moving images of the military men and women we serve. It can be viewed online or downloaded to share at a fundraising event, such as a Strength for Service Sunday. We are very excited about this new resource. Please email us and let us know what you think of it. Blessings, Larry Coppock SFS Director
| Photos Needed We are so thankful for the opportunity to provide books to our military free of charge, thanks to the financial contributions from individuals and organizations. When we include photos in our fundraising efforts, we find that people seem more inspired to give. However, while we distribute thousands of books each month, we receive very few photos. Would you be willing to send us some photos of you or someone you know receiving or reading Strength for Service? Please email them to Larry at lcoppock@gcumm.org. Also, if you are a military chaplain, consider sharing a story of how Strength for Service has made an impact on you with author Nancy B. Kennedy. Ms. Kennedy is working on a book of chaplain stories called Miracles and Moments of Grace. You can email her at kennedy5961@aol.com for more information.
Thank you!
